Utilizing a hybrid distribution strategy, we will split the exploitation rights into different streams - retaining some, especially VOD and licensing others, like television or theatrical in various markets, such as our home market of Germany, which has a strong domestic arthouse market in both Broadcast and Theatrical distribution.
As an Arthouse Drama, with a name cast, a compelling “hook” and a European appeal our plan is to get the film into a Tier 1 Festival - for example, Cannes, or Toronto, (where our cast member Nahéma Ricci’s film “Antigone” premiered to great success this past September, winning the Best Canadian Film award - the ‘Golden Goose’ - and qualifying as Canada’s entry into the 2020 Academy Awards for Best International Film).
Harnessing the festival exposure to our rich and broad social media following, we then hope to propel Before El Finâ into a small theatrical release (10-50 screens) in arthouse cinemas in North America and Europe and then follow this up with a TVOD release on a pay-per- view platform like Google Play or ITunes.
With regard to territories (i.e. North America, Spain, Egypt, etc.), we anticipate that we will make all-in distribution deals in some, and split rights in others. Revenues will therefore be recouped in the form of either a “Minimum Guarantee” from the respective distributor for an all-in deal, or a revenue stream from VOD and DVD sales in territories where we retain, or split rights.
Because of the film’s low budget, our prospects of recoupment and profit are relatively high.
